Common Commencement Program

The Common Commencement Program of the new 2012-2015 batch was held on 4 August at the Vishwabhavan. The welcome address was given by Dr Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director(SIU) who is spearheading the internationalization process. Next the students were welcomed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor,Dr Bhushan Patwardhan, an eminent scientist. This was followed by an inspiring talk from the Chancellor Dr.S.B.Mujumdar showing the path forward. The students also had the opportunity to hear from Prakash Jawadekar, Member of Parliament and National Spokesperson who with his vast experience in various activities of national interests, inspired all present.

Finally addressing the audience was the Chief Guest for the program, Shri Arun Jaitley who needs no introduction. The prominent politician captivated the audience with his frank talk and rich experience on the national stage. His words on student life spurred the assembled students to set even higher standards of excellence and instilled among them a sense of national pride essential to making a responsible and productive citizen.

The question answer round that followed shed light on important national matters and provided a rare opportunity to learn from someone who was actually influencing the direction our country is going to take.  Touching upon matters including Anna Hazare’s political ambition, left front policies and the role of opposition in a parliamentary democracy, Shri Arun Jaitley provided the students an insightful view into Indian politics and the functioning of a democracy. Not only were his answers informative but they also presented a new line of reasoning thereby broadening the horizons of our students.

Toeing the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, at Symbiosis we provide, not only education inside the lecture halls but also rich experiences like these that teach as well as inspire.
